patients
Miss K.O'M
- Summer 2009
I could not have wished for
a more pleasant experience.
The nurses were so friendly, cheerful, kind and considerate.
Mr Whiteley himself treated me with the utmost courtesy. The procedure
was explained fully to me and the results have been excellent.
Mr AC - Summer 2009
Fantastic experience from day 1. Thank you all so much for all your
wonderful care.
I have made several recommendations to friends – Kind regards.
Mrs KM - May 2009
Having recently completed treatment at the Whiteley Clinic under the
care of Mr Whiteley and his fantastic team - I would like to spread the
word.
As a dental surgeon I am more accustomed to doling it out !!! So it is
good to be on the receiving end and to have a really great experience.
I know that a few words from
existing patients can often help those awaiting anxiously .
Although on initial visual examination my procedure seemed very straight
forward - Doppler ultrasound indicated that I would require pelvic vein
coil embolisation prior to my treatment with Mr Whiteley.
This I had not expected -
and after reading up about the procedure - I needed to ask some more
questions. Mr Whiteley was able to reassure me completely.
So the pelvic vein procedure
was carried under IV sedation by Dr Lopez. Of course I had absolutely no
recollection of anything until Dr Lopez came to check up on me a few
hours later. Although I had been advised to expect some abdominal
cramping afterwards this did not materialise. A further scan a few weeks
later indicated a good result .
I completed the remainder of my treatment with Mr Whiteley in a couple
of sessions. I found this as straightforward as a visit to the dentist
!!! The technology is innovative but is also tried and tested.
There was feedback and
reassurance from Mr Whiteley and his highly skilled and professional
team. And we did a lot of laughing too. Over before I knew it and
dispatched with my very attractive and beautifully comfortable support
stockings.
Immediate post operative support was very good and the team were able to
answer my questions and reassure in the week following my treatment.
Mr Whiteley and his
Colleagues are supported by a loyal team who are professional friendly
and approachable.
Several months on I am delighted with the results . My leg no longer
aches and the cosmetic appearance 8 months on is really good.
Miss PB - March 2009
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to you for all your help
and advice to me during the past few weeks and for arranging the MRI and
arterial scan.
As your patient I have been reassured that I have received the benefit
of your vast skill, knowledge and experience and I was very happy to
follow your advice totally.
Again, my sincere thanks to you.
Mr I McP -
August 2008
I would like to share my experience during treatment for
varicose veins at the Whiteley Clinic.
I had an initial scan, which was very straight forward, and
from the outset, The staff I met were very friendly and
reassuring.
It was several weeks later that my first appointment time
had arrived, and I was lying in the theatre thinking I can't
turn back now.
I wanted to have the treatment, but was quite apprehensive.
I do not like needles, and I knew exactly what the surgical
team were doing.
After the anaesthetic took effect very quickly I might add,
I did not feel the catheter, or laser doing their work, and
after about 1/2 an hour all was done.
The second visit a few days later, treated my lower leg,
with a different technique. Still needing injections, the
nurse was beside me throughout, holding my hand and
reassuring. We chatted about all sorts of things to take my
mind off what was going on. Soon it was finished again, and
I thought, great only one procedure left.
This final one, was when the surgeon, pulls out the 'dead'
veins in my lower leg. This sounds quite awful, but all I
felt was some tugging.
I was able to watch a comedy DVD, and though a bit tense
throughout, I knew if I just grit my teeth and hang on, it
would soon be finished.
The staff throughout the 3 procedures were very friendly to
me and had an excellent working relationship, very
reassuring.
You even get a superb cup of tea, with quality biscuits when
you have finished.
The after effects a some bruising, and limping, but not
incapacitating, and you even get to wear a stocking, nice !!
I would say, apart from a little pain now and again, after
the final treatment, I was walking normally
after 4 days.
If you are thinking about this treatment, then take it from
me, it is well worth it.
Letter from male patient RM - June
2008
Dear Mr Price,
I felt that having thanked you when I came in for my final consultation I
should also write to you so that my thanks can be shared with all of the
Clinic staff, both those whom I met standing up or sitting in reception
and those whom I met flat on my back in theatre.
Having been cajoled by my wife into bringing my varicose veins to you, so
to speak, I first came to the Whiteley Clinic with a degree of
trepidation. However this trepidation was quickly dissipated when I met
you and the other staff who dealt with me. The friendly, but professional
manner of all whom I met was reassuring and, although I am not sure what
it says about me, I began to look forward to my visits. It was an
interesting experience to undergo surgery under local anaesthetic, but I
would recommend it to anyone; apart from the therapeutic benefits, I much
appreciated the fact that I could absorb the atmosphere of good humour
which pervaded the theatre.
But my visits to the Clinic were not entirely for pleasure and I should
record that I am delighted with the results of the procedures which you
carried out. With minimal discomfort and no disruption of my normal life
my an unsightly veins have vanished and I no longer have to use that
expression "Oh my aching legs!"
My wife was equally delighted with the treatment she received at the
Clinic. It is therefore from both of us that we send our thanks to all who
looked after us, and you may rest assured that we will sing the praises of
the Whiteley Clinic to anyone who might benefit from the treatment you
offer.
Mrs PZ - March / April 2008
‘I chose the Whiteley Clinic after listening
to the advice of medical professionals, including a vascular surgeon, who
advised me that the expertise, in all of the procedures I probably needed,
could be accommodated there.
At the first consultation I was given the information I needed to go away
and do my own research. Though nervous on being introduced to the clinic
team I never once felt intimidated. I was watching for signs of discord
amongst the team members, both administrative and clinical, but everyone
seemed to be competent yet friendly and relaxed with each other.
I opted for local anaesthetic surgery so that I could be active
immediately afterwards and did not regret that decision. I was able to
enjoy a cup of tea and biscuits immediately after surgery and though I was
uncomfortable and sore, was able to walk back to my hotel unaided.
I never thought we would all be chatting amiably and even laughing
throughout the surgery, yet I was impressed how professional and
respectful of each other’s role each of the team was. Myself, I actually
felt quite cherished!’
Mrs CS - February 2008
‘I cannot recommend the Whiteley Clinic Team
highly enough. Their professionalism, thoughtful care and advice
throughout the treatment were excellent and filled me with confidence.
The end result is all that I had hoped for both aesthetically and
physically with no more painful and aching legs. I have been wearing
dresses and skirts with confidence and also I have once again taken up one
of my favourite pastimes of coastal footpath walking. I have recently been
on a break in Cornwall testing my legs walking up the cliffs and I am
pleased to report they did very well!!
Thank you to a great team, keep up the brilliant work!’
Miss VB - January 2008
‘I would recommend that anyone suffering
with varicose veins visits the Whiteley Clinic for treatment’, she says.
‘I found the website www.veins.co.uk particularly helpful.’
‘Staff were available for guidance and advice at all times and they all
made time to listen to my concerns and questions. This was important to me
as I had four separate procedures over the same number of weeks and had
several questions about the bandages, stockings and relief of pain in
between my visits. Being able to walk in and walk out of the clinic within
less than a couple of hours was brilliant.’
I am delighted with the appearance of my legs following the treatment.
